my favorite kitchen gadget/organizer – smartshopper

Oct 19

several years ago, i discovered this awesome kitchen product on the today show….and knew i had to have it!

do you see the little grey box on the side of my fridge?….top right corner?

here it is a little closer….

can you guess what this little electronic does?

it’s called smartshopper and it keeps track of your grocery list.

YES, i said it keeps track of your grocery list!!!

now….it’s not going to magically know what you are low on. you will need to tell it that. but the beauty of this item is that you don’t need to roam around your kitchen/house to find a pen and paper. when an item comes to mind you simply press the record button, say the item you want added to your list, and the smartshopper adds it to the list for you. when you are ready for that trip to the grocery store, all you do it hit the print button and your list prints out in organized categories – which makes your grocery trips more efficient….

*swoon* it’s awesome! and it is my favorite kitchen gadget!

it’s like having your own Alice from the Brady Bunch in your kitchen. ooooo-kay, maybe not that close…but it’s going to be an extra set of hands for you. i can’t tell you how many times i have walked out of the kitchen to get a pen and paper….low and behold, i have forgotten what i wanted to write down or some little people have interrupted my train of thought.

when i discovered this product it was during the sleep-deprived time in my life. wait, who am i kidding, i’m still totally sleep-deprived. 🙂 anyway, i had a 2 year old and a newborn. my kids weren’t sleeping well, which meant my mental focus was low each day. even though i reminded myself “i need yogurt the next time i’m at the store”…the next time i was at the store, how much do you wanna bet i walked away without any yogurt? i couldn’t keep a straight thought in my head from all of my sleepless nights and long days with an active toddler and newborn in my arms.

the very morning i saw this product, i immediately went to their website to find out more and the cost. that evening, i mentioned the product to my husband and hinted it would be a great mother’s day gift.

surprise, surprise – guess what i opened on mother’s day? 🙂

this item has been thee most helpful, and USEFUL, product in my kitchen. as soon as an item comes to mind, i speak into the unit and am confident knowing it’s safe stored away until i’m ready to print my list. no more of those random grocery items bobbing around in this mommy brain.

last week when i was on their website ordering more paper i see they have updated the product with an updated look and features – like the ability to flag items you have a coupon for.

here is some info:

“SmartShopper is a voice recognition grocery list organizer. Its intuitive interface is fun to use and easy to master. Just push the record button, say the name of the item you want to add to the list, and SmartShopper does the rest; it’s as simple as that!

There are over 2,500 items in SmartShopper’s library, and it can even learn new items tailored to your lifestyle. SmartShopper automatically organizes your list into categories, making visits to the store more efficient.

  • Easy-to-use, hands-free voice operation
  • Prints and automatically categorizes your lists
  • Category Mgt. allows the user to match their store layout, change and add categories
  • Powerful magnet mounts unit to your refigerator or metal cabinet
  • Two lists can be individually named and kept simultaneously
  • Flags items that you have coupons for
  • Allows you to designate quantities

  • Small enough to fit into your kitchen decor

you can compare this above picture to the photo i shared above. the product has a much nicer streamlined look. who knows, maybe i will eBay mine and treat myself to a newer version.

(i’m not benefiting from this company by mentioning their product – no one is paying me to share this with you. am sharing in case anyone else has struggled with keeping an organized grocery list. this is truly my favorite kitchen gadget.)
