25 Days of Elf On The Shelf: Days 1 – 9

Dec 10

Our scout elf, Freddie, first came to visit last year. We had so much fun with him during the season and the kids couldn’t wait for his return. Truthfully, we were all anxiously awaiting his arrival. Not only did he make quite the entrance this year, but has been entertaining us with his landing spot each night after his long flight to/from the North Pole.

If your scout elves are looking for inspiration, they can see it all here in this 3-part series. Today I’m sharing days 1-9.

Enjoy!!!

While we were at the tree farm picking out our Christmas tree, Freddie was busy setting up a treat bar on the kitchen table…

Powdered donuts were piled high as a Christmas tree…

Mini Christmas tree cakes…

Holiday themed Peeps…

Small bowls of chocolates…

And little gifts for each of the kids. The big hit was Freddie chillin’ front and center in a tub of mini marshmallows…

He wrote the kids a letter telling them how excited he was to be back and reminding them not to touch. He even grabbed our Elf on the Shelf book for us to read while enjoying the delicious treats…

When we got home from the tree farm, the kids were SO excited to see him…and all of the treats!

If you’d like to download your own Santa letterhead, you can find it right here

With the tree inside and set for decorating, Freddie thought he’d help by stringing the lights. He was having so much fun with the lights he decided to set up a festive zip line…

Someone’s having fun…

On day 3 Freddie reminded the kids why we celebrate the Christmas season…and did so in a fun way…

Freddie discovered a fun way to burn off those sugar calories – a nerf gun fight…

He perched himself high up on top of the kitchen cabinets…

Taking direct aim at the kitchen china cabinet…

After several days of elf fun and many flights to / from the North Pole, time to re-fuel!..

What better way than with a handful of candy and maple syrup to wash it down?…

Talent!…

Since Freddie had a fairly smooth trip on night 5, he had some free time to go fishing…in the toilet….

With a fishing pole made of a candy cane and baking twine…

No luck catching anything.

On day 7 he had fun in mommy’s closet and make-up drawer….just like the little sister in our house frequently does. He put on a pair of heels, some necklaces and bracelets…

And also surrounded himself with pretty items and perfumes…

That lip gloss color looks great on you, freddie!…

Freddie was getting homesick on day 8, so he sent an e-mail home to santa, mrs. claus, the elves and rudolph…

While at the computer, he printed a few wish lists for the kids to complete. Santa was waiting on their wish lists…

If you’d like to print your own wish lists, they were created by DaNita and can be found right here on her pretty little blog.

Looks like the toys had enough of freddie’s games…

Batman and Spiderman characters teamed up to capture Freddie…

And stood on alert all day to make sure he didn’t escape…

Hope you enjoyed part 1 of this 3 part Elf on the Shelf series!

LOVE THIS! I just bought an Elf On The Shelf yesterday- I don't have kids (not even married) but I am so anxious to someday do this for my kids!

I don't think I would have advised eating anything he caught in the toilet anyway…
I'm in Australia and the Elf on the Shelf hasn't really caught on here. It's a pity though because I could have so much fun with this and my little girl. (Once she was old enough to actually understand it all anyway)

    • oh yes – nothing out of the toilet to eat, please! 🙂

it's a fun tradition….but like Santa, the gig will be up soon for us. 🙁 our 8 year old is already asking questions…boooo!!!

      sam 🙂

we had an elf for 4 years, but last year my kids realized it wasn't real. The youngest 2 still believe in Santa, but none of them believed in the elf. I like your ideas, however I see soooo many having the elf do naughty things. The whole point of the elf is to remind your kids to behave!! Anyway, our elf has retired. I am going to save him. Not sure why. I have 5 kids, so I can't really pass it down.

Can you tell me what kind of camera you use? It takes such great pics and I am in the market…

    • haha!!! love your story! yes, i realize this is going to be short lived…sadly. our 8 year old is asking questions, but our 6 and 2 year old are completely enamored with the elf and santa and everything magical. am hoping to keep that going as long as possible. 🙂

i have a canon 40d camera with various lenses. personally, i think the lenses make all the difference! thank you for the photo compliments but i have SO much more to learn. i shoot only in manual but the photos show it…i don't like them very much and am hoping to make that much better on the blog as i am learning.
