Just Another Reason to Love The Martha Stewart Wall Manager

Aug 27

With each passing day I’m falling more in love with Aiden’s tween boy bedroom. You can see my previous posts about his room here, here and here. Almost finished with his space and there will be a full reveal next week, I’m guessing. But today I’m popping in to show off his new desk and share yet another place in my home where I’ve found a perfect spot the Martha Stewart Wall Manager.

Let me quickly start by saying I love his new desk…and so does he! I’ll definitely share the desk again once we have it all organized and stocked. But the desk arrived yesterday and it was clearly meant to be right here…

I love the color and features. This desk is from Pottery Barn Teen. I bought it on sale and used a reward certificate. It was still on the pricey end, but when it comes to a piece like this, I tend to go nicer because I know it’s going to last a very very long time. He’s only in the 4th grade. I picture this being a desk he can keep for years to come.

This is the Beadboard Smart Desk, without the hutch, in dark espresso.

I love the pull-put work surface on both sides. This will give him extra surface space for big projects or books / materials…

This was another feature that won me over…the Smart 5-plug outlet!…

We won’t see cords!!!

There’s a file cabinet, should he ever need one. I don’t have it set up for now but it came with the material to add the framing if desired…

And the 3 drawers are roomy enough for all of his little things…

Love love love! And it was so awesome to hear him today after school. In the car he said, “I’m going home, going to my room and getting my homework done on my new desk!”. Music to my ears!
But he had another surprise to come home to today. While he was at school I put the Martha Wall Manager up over his desk…
If you’ve been reading my blog for a while you know I love this product – so much! And not only because it’s a Martha product. It truly is a highly efficient organization tool! I have it in my home office, my kitchen cabinet, under the kitchen sink, have used it in client’s homes and now Aiden has a few components over his desk. It’s a great product, can be used anywhere and is at a very affordable price point. I hope she doesn’t have plans to discontinue this because I can see myself using more of it in my eventual renovated home office.
(I’m not getting paid, by the way, to talk about this product. I really do love this and use it all the time!)
This works so well above the desk not only because he has a spot to display photos and treasures, but also it will keep pencils and other small work items out of the drawer and up on the wall…where he can easily grab them while working. Sure, I could put them in the drawers, but my hope is for him to have a work space with just that…space. If I can get some items up on the wall leaving more room for other things…perfect!
The Wall Manager is easy to install. It comes with nails, but I have only ever used Command Adhesive to attach my components to wall. This gives me the flexibility to move it around to where it’s most functional, without putting holes in my walls….

The built-in level makes it easy to hang…

He has 2 cork boards and one accessory board. On the accessory board he has a pencil holder, 2 clips and a set of drawers…
In one of the drawers I stored away his push-pins, so little sister doesn’t get into them…
To give him even more room for photos and A++++ schoolwork, I found this little cork strip at Staples…
You can find it in their bulletin board area. I didn’t want to cover this wall with a huge board (because I have plans for some kind of shelving to go over this at some point), so the strip works really well! It’s easy to put up too because it also sticks to the wall. It comes with magnetic adhesive as well in case you want to secure this to the side of a fridge or a large white board…

I’m going to print some pics of his buddies to put up right here. He really misses our Arkansas friends. I do too!
I’m really happy with his desk and now his little organized Martha center above it…
Of course, once homework was done today, the papers were gone and out came the baseball cards!…

I’ve got no problem with that! The desk has so much surface space it’s the perfect spot to choose your dream team line-up.
Loving his room so far!…

Confession: I also love that he is so into sports for the obvious reasons…but it’s not bad looking around his room either – ahem, the Giants poster above his desk….

We love our boys in orange!…

Have a great day!!!

What a great desk! I think he will get a lot of use out of it! Are you concerned about the top getting scratched at all? Maybe a desk mat?

  4. Curious… where did you get the metal chair?

I'd Love To Hear From You!
