Secure Your Home with Schlage + A Giveaway!

Oct 12

Happy Monday, my organization-loving friends!

It’s been quiet around here because there’s a lot going on behind the scenes. Mostly good stuff, with only a few downers (you’ll see one big downer below). If you follow me on Instagram, Friday I shared a quick video recap of my week. Busiest week ever – both with clients and blog stuff.  And, of course, I’m a mother with a house to run…so there’s that. I’m also on the planning committee for our regional NAPO conference here in SF. The conference is happening in a few weeks and I’ll be sharing a bit about that here too. More good news – my website is almost done and my logo is finalized (yippee!). The site has a few tweaks left before it launches in a few days. So excited to share it with you! As well as share an update in my blogger-to-wordpress series. And I have some fun blog posts to post too!

But because it’s Monday – let’s kick off a new week with a giveaway!

I love Schlage…and I’m not just saying that because they buddied up with me for this giveaway. If you’ve been reading the blog for a while, you recall almost 2 years ago I replaced all of the door hardware around the house with Schlage products. They didn’t send me those products, I purchased every last knob myself. I fell in love with their hardware and am still loving on it to this day. The previous door hardware was not only falling apart, it was brass which, no offense to anyone, isn’t my personal taste…

I went with their Georgian Satin Nickel and it’s held up beautifully to 3 kids…and all of their rambunctious friends coming and going!…

2 years ago, all of the knobs were replaced with the exception the door to the garage coming in from the backyard…

That is until last week when I updated it with a new Schlage Touch lock…

And why did I replace it finally, you ask? Not only because my friends at Schlage sent this to me, but because someone broke into the house a couple weeks ago…using this door as their entry point.

I know, yuck! I hate the feeling – hate knowing someone not only stole items from our garage (things that belong to my children!!), but can’t stand the feeling of someone coming onto my property and into my home. It’s a gross, violating feeling. Without giving away too much, I have a unique property that overlooks a regional trail. This sorta makes us a prime target as people can easily get on and off…

IMG_5924

However, what gave me chills more than anything was knowing the thieves planned this in advance. How do I know? They knew I park right here. In this spot. Every day. Instead of just walking onto the property, they cut through the deer fence directly behind my truck…

And came around to the back door to access the garage. #chills Once I shook it off, I quickly got to work with the police, the fence company, our home insurance company, I replaced the stolen items, added cameras around the entire property…

IMG_5918

…and of course, finally replaced this door hardware! Good chance getting in now dudes! 😉

It was easy to install The Schlage Touch…

Similar to all of the interior door hardware, I love how pretty and clean this set is…

Even from the other side of the door it’s pretty…

But what I love most is the features!

The Schlage Touch lock provides the ability to store 19 unique access codes to provide you with exceptional convenience…without the need for a home automation system. You’ll no longer have to worry about misplacing keys or creating duplicates for each visitor. The Schlage Touch screen works in the rain, as well as with gloves, and features dedicated icons to signal low battery and programming modes.

I would use this on the door coming in from the garage as it’s the one I tend to worry about most!

I’m so sorry to hear that your home was broken into! It must be a very violating feeling. So glad they only made it into the garage and hopefully, you were not home!!

    • Samantha says:

Thank you! Sadly, I must have been home when they did it because my truck was parked there – scary!!! That is likely why they stuck to the garage too…instead of entering the actual house.

Thank you so much for the comment and I wish you luck with the giveaway!!!

      xo,
      Sam

  2. Patty says:

I would use it on our front door.

  3. Jen Moore says:

I’d use it on the side door to our brand new house- moving next month—– yikes!!

  4. Kelly says:

I would use it on our front door. But, it’s great to know about this product as we’re planning to build a home and are considering French doors to the backyard and this would be very handy there too.

  5. Cleta Weaver says:

After my husband passed away, I had motion lights installed and a deadbolt on the outer garage door. But this looks like a much better solution. I would put it on that garage door and sleep safely. Glad you are OK>

    • Samantha says:

Awe, love knowing that! Yes, I do find I’m sleeping better too because of this new lock. There is no getting in now!

Thank you, I am ok! 🙂

      Good luck!!
      xo,
      Sam

  6. Lynette says:

I would use it on our backdoor. So thankful you (or anyone else) didn’t encounter the lowlifes!

  7. muriel says:

Sorry to hear of the break in. Scary! I would use this lock on our front door.

  8. Heather says:

When we built our new house, my husband had our house set up like Fort Knox! We have cameras everywhere and an alarm on every entry. I would use this on our barn door since I never seem to have the key with me when I’m out there.

  9. Lauren says:

So sorry this happened to you Samantha. Great blog post! I had never heard of Schlage before so this was a real eye-opener. I live in a pool house that only has one door but I’d like to install the Schlage lock on it. Sometimes the house keeper or my landlady need to access the door and I’d rather give them a code than have them use a key! Thanks for bringing this great product to my attention! Keep up the good work.

    • Samantha says:

Awe, thank you – it’s ok! Part of life, I suppose…sadly!

You’ve never heard of Schlage? Crazy! So glad I was the one to bring them to your attention!! Good luck – this would be a great product for you!!

      See you soon! xo,
      Sam

  10. Stacey Roberson says:

I would use the Schlage Touch dead bolt on my front door. I worry about my little guy trying to get out in the middle of the night. I try to take as many precautions as I can.

  11. Rhianna Wells says:

It’s so funny to come across this post because I was just looking at Schlage locks for our front door. My friend has one and LOVES it. We are updating all the hardware in our house and definitely want a Schlage lock. I can honestly say I’ve never wanted to win a giveaway so much!

  12. Cheryl says:

I would you use The Schlage Touch dead bolt on our front door.

  13. LaTanya says:

I would use it on the door near the garage.

  14. Michelle I says:

We just went under contract on a house, I would want one of these on ALL of the exterior doors!

  15. Annie S says:

I would use this on our door from the garage to the house. We have gotten locked out so many times in the last year it would be nice to not have to worry about that.

  16. Susan Heiler says:

I would like to replace the Schlage that we have with this new one!

  17. Hayden Davis says:

Samantha-So sorry to hear your garage was broken in to! That is such a scary feeling to know someone else was in your house/garage. Thanks for the great giveaway. I would use this on our side door.

  18. Taylor Strong says:

I would use this on our front door. I’d feel much better giving someone a code then leaving a key hidden somewhere on my front porch

Would definitely use this on our front door – we need a new lock!

  20. dottie parr says:

back door = yard also opens to a green belt!

  21. Lula Ruger says:

I would se it on my front door

  22. Dorie says:

I’d use this stylish, yet functional door knob on my garage door, too!

  23. Carrie says:

I would use the lock on the door entering my home through the garage. I don’t like to leave it unlocked, but I can never find my keys in my purse. My car is push start so my keys are never out of my purse.

I would put this on our side door, the ones my kids use the most. my oldest has asked for a key but I am not ready for that but she could easily remember a code
