My New Kitchen Lights

Dec 1

In the next couple days I’ll share more about why my December work schedule has slowed to a crawl (one big hint = I’m hiring!). But have to admit, I’m really enjoying this slower pace. Well, not that it’s really that much slower because I still have 3 very active kids, Christmas shopping season is officially here, there’s a ton of school / friend / family events and activities to prepare for…the list goes on. The slow down, however, has given me a bit more time to get it all done, blog (which is my heart and passion) and knock out a few important home improvements. A few weeks ago I installed a much-needed kitchen sink. Then I pulled the trigger on a new entry table. And yesterday a huge improvement was completed over the kitchen dining table.

Took me 2 years to make this decision, but am glad I waited because these beauties are on sale and shipped for free! Yes, my Christmas gifts arrived early…

Can you even believe this?! To truly appreciate, take a look at the before…

Yep. Those were the lights over the table for the last two years. Classy, huh?

In a nutshell, it took me a couple years to make a decision because choosing lights or any design element in my home tends to take me a while. Believe it or not, design and decor aren’t my strong points. Also, this area is smack dab in the middle of the common area. A big monstrosity of a light fixture would definitely block the view…no matter where someone may be standing. Hence the clear glass option I fell for. Trust me, I’ve kept my eyes open and stumbled upon many-a-beautiful option…but so glad I ended up right here!

They add the perfect amount of light without blocking the view. The views into the living room, playroom, patio and pool in the backyard are still totally visible…

Waiting also paid off because my sweet neighbor was visiting one day a few months ago and suggested adding another light fixture over the kitchen counter bar. There’s a dark area between the actual kitchen and dining table…

I may still add a small table lamp on the buffet you see, but this spot over the kitchen counter bar was perfect for an additional pendant light. It’s such an awkward space because the cabinet above keeps me from thinking about hanging lights up there. By why not add just one? I never thought about it!…

Thank you for the idea, Blake! Gotta love those neighbors! 😉

The pendant lights over the table are the large size (purchased as a set of 2) and the small pendant was purchased as a single…

Love love this so much! The space feels new and transformed, simply by (finally) adding 3 beautiful lights!

The lights were purchased from Pottery Barn (here and here) and it’s your lucky day if you’re reading this blog post today – all lighting is 25% off and free shipping!

Have a great day everyone!

You will have to let us know about cleaning these lights. I have them and had a hard time keeping them clean. Maybe it’s me? They are beautiful! I have two hanging over a beautiful farm table my daughter and husband made me:)

      Hi!

Someone on my Instagram feed mentioned they were hard to clean. This is interesting to hear it again. Wonder what that’s about? Be sure to share what the struggles are that you’re having with them. Is it dust? Like maybe I should plan on dusting them weekly to be sure nothing gets built up? I can’t imagine it would be fingerprints b/c they are up pretty high so my kids can’t reach them. Would love to hear your feedback and will definitely check-in again at a later date to share if I’m having an issue cleaning them too.

      Thank you!!

      xo,
      Sam

They look awesome! Can’t say how many times I’ve come close to ordering these pendants but wasn’t sure they were right for my kitchen island. Even checked out PB earlier today…and now seeing your beautiful photos, I’m buying ’em tonight! Thanks for the inspiration 🙂

Yay! Love knowing this post helped you make a decision! As I said in the post, took me 2 years to finally pull the trigger and I’m so glad I did. I also kept seeing them on the PB site and in others homes that have been shared on social media. Don’t know what made me wait so long…I feel like they had been calling my name all along and I was just second guessing myself.

You’re so welcome and thank you so much for the comment!!

      xo,
      Sam

  4. Love those lights! I will check out the PB sale now. Thanks for sharing!

    • Samantha says:

Thank you – I love them too! Definitely check out the sale! I hear complaints from time to time about the cost of PB products, but they have the best sales and it’s always worth waiting!

Let me know if you end up getting these or something else!

      xo,
      Sam

    • Samantha says:

Thank you so much for the follow – grateful to have you here! And I love PB too – especially these lights. Really, I would have taken any light…2 years was far too long to go without kitchen lighting. Haha!!

      Sam

  8. Love those lights. My neighbor just bought them for her new kitchen island. Could you tell me where you got your table and chairs? The chairs look like the Pottery Barn ones I have been looking at but I wanted to check. Thanks!

    • Samantha says:

Yes! The table and chairs are from Pottery Barn. Have owned the set for nearly 10 years and it’s held up great with children! I believe it’s the Harvest table? Not sure they carry this style anymore but I have seen the chairs on their site!

      xo,
      Sam

  9. Bryce says:

Seems like a long shot since this thread is old. But I bought some of these lights and am having trouble making them level. Did you have any similar issues? Thanks
