Oh my gosh, has it really been 2 whole weeks since my last post? I thought summer was chill? I owe you a serious update. All the details will be in a post tomorrow, but bottom line is I have worked nearly every day of those last 2 weeks. #goodproblems On the one hand, so so proud of myself for getting this little business churning away and keeping me this busy. On the other hand, wow…is my body feeling it. I even took off to LA for 2 days for my first “celeb” project. Seriously, can’t even believe it. Of course, I had zero idea this type of schedule was coming down the pike so was totally unprepared in the nanny dept. My poor kids! They’ve had a number of sitters over the last few weeks. All of whom have been referred to me by my summer intern. I can’t live without her! If I would have known this was happening, I would’ve spent time connecting with a nanny service before school ended. Instead we were all sorta thrown into a tail spin.

Nevertheless, all good now…and later this week I’ll dive into more details.

p.s. I’ve mentioned before that I’d love to have you join me on Instagram. I’m not saying that because I’m being pushy…instead it’s warm, loving invitation! IG is an easy way to see what I’m doing day to day. I typically post one snapshot per day of the project I wrapped. Much as I love writing and sharing more in depth stories / images, I’m too exhausted to post on the blog at the end of the day. So sharing on IG has been a nice, positive, upbeat addition for this old blogger. Anyway, come join me if you can!

Fun post today – a little project completed in MY own home! Yay! It’s something small, but it’s been bugging me for a couple years. This empty space over the toilet in the master bathroom…

This is an enclosed toilet room with zero storage…

Over the last couple years, I’ve given thought to what could act as storage, but ultimately didn’t want something sitting on the floor. I also didn’t want an over-the-toilet organizer and the room is too tight for something on the side walls. Instead we’ve been putting odds and ends on the windowsill, which is very shallow and being on the second story means one small gust of wind makes everything come toppling down. Did I mention my kids don’t always close the toilet lid? You can guess what happens when that gust of wind blows through.

I’d basically be replicating what I did here, but would make them a bit thinner and with a different stain…

But time hasn’t been on my side. So I wanted a quick-fix as a temporary, yet still pretty. The other day while client shopping I passed these small mantle shelves that were the answer to my issues!…

It’s just a short mantle shelf for $30 that includes all the required hardware. They are shallow enough to hang and allow someone to sit on the toilet without bumping their head. The shelves come with a simple to use hanging guide that you cut out, tape to the wall and make your drill marks with. So easy!…

You’re drilling 4 holes for each shelf and those protruding pipes allow the shelves to slide right on…

Such a great, simple fix for this bathroom…until I’m able to add real floating shelves from scratch. I am so itching to build something!

And they are pretty enough to be used somewhere else in the house later, possibly in the kids bathroom over their toilet.

To the fun part – decorating! All that was needed was a basket for extra rolls of toilet paper, a spot for feminine products and a nice candle / plant…

Thrilled to finally have storage in here…

This wasn’t an expensive update and would be a great option for renters – remember, just 4 small holes that can easily be patched / painted.
