Top 10 Reader Choice Blog Posts of 2016

Jan 2

The year 2016 has passed and we’re a few days into 2017. As we embark on the journey of a new year, I’m more focused than ever but also ready to embrace whatever comes.

One of my favorite things to do at the beginning of each year is reflect on the past year and figure out what topics have been the most useful and interesting to you, my dear readers. As I look forward to sharing my home organization tips and insights, it is helpful for me to look back and see what your favorite posts were in 2016.

Here are the Top 10 Reader Choice Blog Posts of 2016…

ORGANIZED BATHROOM CLOSET

1. Organized Bathroom Closet

The number one viewed blog post of 2016 was my post about re-organizing a bathroom closet in my own home. If you remember, I needed to do some re-organizing because my kids were outgrowing their wardrobes so it was time to re-do their closets. In the process, I realized I needed to update their overflow bathroom closet space. I started with redoing the shelving and then I found these amazing wire baskets (love them!) at Target and clear pantry bins and I was well on my way! Considering how beautiful the closet turned out – and reader viewing was off the charts – I’d say this was a very satisfying and successful organization project!

SIMPLY DONE: CUSTOM WALL OF GARAGE SHELVING

2. Simply Done Garage Shelving

I’m not surprised this post came in at #2. In this project, I transformed the space by removing 2 types of unwieldy free-standing utility shelving and 7 different types of storage bins into a beautiful organized space with easy-to-access storage. I used Elfa Utility Garage Ventilated Shelving and uniform bins to create this garage shelving project.

OPERATION ORGANIZATION: BACK TO SCHOOL

3. Operation Organization – Back to School

When my blogger friends Christy and Amy of 11 Magnolia Lane invited me to join their back-to-school Operation Organization blog hop, I knew it would be a success. I had so much fun sharing my back-to-school organization inspiration! This post includes fridge and pantry organization and the following organization storage items:

ONE ROOM CHALLENGE: MY HOME OFFICE

4, One Room Challenge – My Home Office

I really needed to get my home office organized after a super-busy and stressful summer so I focused on the motivation of an upcoming One Room Challenge by Calling It Home. I never did get around to re-doing my home office, but it did get some much needed organizing. Here are the products I featured in that post:

SIMPLY DONE: GORGEOUS HOME OFFICE

5. Simply Done: A Gorgeous Home Office

I think I’m seeing a trend here with the home office posts. Most people these days have a home office or home office space that houses their technology (desktop, laptop, tablets, etc.), file cabinets and other office-related items. This was a client project (lucky her!) and was so much fun to work on! The office turned out amazingly well; I know being organized will help with efficiency and productivity too! Here are some the featured items:

SIMPLY ORGANIZED STYLE: MY SKINCARE REGIME

6. Simply Organized Style – My Skincare Regime

On a personal note, I shared a bit about my skincare routine. Several readers asked what I was using and the post came at a time when I really just wanted to write about something fun…not organization related. Turns out many of you loved the post as much as I did!

UPDATE: MY ERIN CONDREN LIFE PLANNER

7. Update: My Erin Condren Life Planner

Last year I took the plunge into a totally new system of planners and so proud to have taken the risk. Turning to a new planner more than proves the fact that change isn’t easy. And certainly doesn’t happen overnight. It did take time to adjust to a smaller sized planner, but now? Now I would never go back! I absolutely love love love my planner. So much so that I purchased a larger oversized monthly planner for 2017.

HOW TO EASILY REMOVE BURNED EGG FROM A STAINLESS PAN

8.How to Easily Remove Burned Egg From a Stainless Steel Pan

Yes, I’m an organizer and organization blogger, but some of my top ranking posts are all about cleaning or DIYing. This year I shared a few cleaning tips for how to remove burned egg from a stainless pan. I’m guilty for having done this on too many occasions, so it was all done in research to help myself. But ultimately, it helped you too!

MY NEW PLANNER!

9. My New Planner!

And this would be the post announcing the arrival of the new Erin Condren planner. 🙂 Ha!

SIMPLY DONE: MAXIMIZE CLOSET SPACE WITH MODULAR PIECES

10. Simply Done: Maximize Closet Space With Modular Pieces

Finally, and one of my own personal favorites, was this stunning master closet from a Los Angeles client’s home. You can read the entire story and see the before / afters in the link above but it was a total joy to help them transform this closet. This couple was a total pleasure to work with and the end result has been lasting! I was just Face-timing with them last week because I’ll be heading back to help them tackle a few more areas this year!

It’s always so satisfying to know that my organizing ideas are helpful to you. If you’re new here, please enjoy the time to check out the above Top 10 Reader’s Choice blog posts for new ideas and a fresh perspective on ways to make your life simpler and happier.
