At Home: Fall Front Porch

Oct 6

Welcome to the beginnings of our fall front porch…

You guys know I keep it minimal so this is more than enough if you ask me. So when I said “the beginnings of our fall porch”…keep in mind, there are kids living here who are excited about making the season festive. Inside and out! Halloween is coming in quick so I imagine there will be a lot of spooky, fun items and lights layered in over the next couple weeks.

Like many of you, we’re welcoming in family and friends during the holidays. But we have plans to celebrate in other big and smalls ways as well. In a couple short weeks, we’re hosting a 50th birthday party in the backyard. Can’t wait to share those photos – it’s going to be beautiful! And we are looking forward to hosting smaller more intimate groups of friends.

The front porch was top of list because we are already a full week into October – say what?!

Anyway, I added a few small touches and couldn’t wait to welcome YOU in to see it! The front porch is spacious and beautiful – and I seriously die every time I pull up and see this wood shingle house. It’s a dream come true…

THE FRONT DOOR

Since the porch is large, I broke it up into a few defined spaces. At the front door I layered 3 rugs, added pumpkins and lanterns, a couple olive trees, mum plants and a simple wreath on the door…

( black rug | brown rug | front door mat )

I already had the rugs – you’ll recognize a couple from the old house…

I found the pumpkins at Trader Joe’s and the lanterns are from a previous project I completed for Lowe’s…

I scored the mum’s from Trader Joe’s too – they were only $12.99 as opposed to the $25 price tag I saw on them at Ace.

The black planters were purchased from Anthro last year. I don’t see them available on the site anymore, but Pottery Barn has a close match

I found this cute sign at Ace Hardware. Our local store has a home section and the buyer is amazing! She always brings in the cutest stuff!…

The olive trees are also from a local garden center and the faux magnolia wreath will get us through the entire season…

TWO SEATING AREAS

The right side of the porch has a small seating area. You’ll recognize the set from my from porch at the previous house. Still in love with these chairs – the only thing we need to add is a little footstool…

( side table | lanterns )

I added 2 additional chairs to the left of the front door too…

SIDE ENTRY

On the far left side of the porch is a door that sits directly outside the office window…

The desk I work at faces this view so I’m able to see people approach the front door. This side entry door is where my team members come and go…it’s been convenient as it’s also situated near the garage, which is where we keep a lot of our job materials. So when someone pulls up to bring material or other deliveries, I’m right here to open the door and greet them…

To add a little more life over here I set out a rug, wreath and plant we already had on hand. And then just added a small pumpkin. I’ll add a few more things over time here but this is a nice start…

These olive trees remind me of those growing at the old house. I miss snipping those long branches in the fall to decorate with.
