This incredible mom of 3 reached out for help with her teenage daughter’s closet. At first glance I knew this landed in my sweet spot and would take no time at all!…

It’s an Elfa system from The Container Store. This system is the best for children … it’s grows with them as they grow. We tracked down the original TCS design in the system and discovered it was installed about 5 years ago. Seems about the right time for this high school junior to make some edits.

We started by decluttering for a few hours…category by category, she looked at each and every item to decide what stayed…what she sold…and what we donated…

With the decluttering completed, I came up with a game plan, ordered updated pieces and returned 2 days later to create this incredibly easy and beautiful after…

Yes, that’s the same closet!

Once I knew what remained, I figured out a way to maximize the space for her. My plan included extending the top rod to go all the way across, adding more drawers and more small shelves on the left side…and then I wanted to space plan for ultimate ease of finding / putting away clothing…

We kept her existing over-door shoe organizers as they work very well for her as is…

The drawers got a bit of an upgrade with dividers…

I labeled the front of the drawers and when necessary the inside top lip of the drawer as well…

She has a platform bed with cubbies / baskets underneath. Those contain her PJ’s, bulky sweaters, and t-shirt collection…

She has such a fun, casual feel in her room so it was great to assist in lightening the space by editing her wardrobe AND getting it all organized…

All with an update that didn’t cost much at all!
