Holiday Home Decor Tour

Dec 7

Really excited today to share a little holiday tour of our home. I love love Christmas and the season, but having children makes the season even more magical. Excitement for the season grows each year as the kids are old enough to get into the spirit of the holiday. The kids love the decorations – inside and out. It’s so fun experiencing Christmas through their eyes.
Here is my entry this year…

Who doesn’t love seeing a tree all lit up in a front window?…

This year I used the same pre-lit garland around the door, but instead of the usual red tones I added silver as the accent – 3 new over-sized glittery snowflakes made their way into my decor #thankyoutarget…

This year our north pole snowman is back. He survived another year in storage, although his lower abdomen lights seem to be out for good. Last year I had an issue with his lights, but they suddenly came on after I started crying. Ha! He was purchased the year my first child was born, so I may or may not have a major minor attachment to the guy…

This year he has a friend to keep him company, a baby penguin wearing a scarf and earmuffs…

Welcome inside!

Each year I frame photos of the kids with santa. After 8 years of santa moments, there are quite a few in the house. I have a few placed here in the front entry…

On the same table there is a nutcracker, a skiing glittery santa, candles, a mini holly tree, Rudolph, and a framed Christmas message placed front and center…

The tree…

I fall head over heels in love with my tree each year. It becomes a member of the family and is sad to take it down once the season ends. For now I’m enjoying every second and it smells wonderful!

I put the lights on one evening after the kids went to bed. Once the canvas was set, the kids placed most of the ornaments on the tree. Most of our ornaments have sentimental value…photos of the kids when they were born, photos of them during various Christmas seasons, handmade ornaments brought home from school, and fun ornaments like scooby-doo, lightning mcqueen, and the leg lamp from a Christmas story.

A huge glass star…

My oldest son’s newborn handprint…

Silver beaded balls…

Green with gold beads…

Red with gold beads…

Bet those last 2 could be easily DIY’d with a glue pen and glitter!

The living room mantle…

This year 2 owls landed on the mantle instead of the tree…

My kitchen mantle…garland with poinsettias and red ball ornaments, along with some candles…

And a few other touches around the house…

A collection of singing, dancing and story-telling stuffed animals…

Santa…

Snowy tree candles…

Advent calendar…

A nativity scene….

…to remind us why we celebrate…

For fun, if you follow me on facebook, you’ll notice I tend to share a bit more personal photos over there. Here’s one I shared the night we finished decorating the tree. someone was exhausted after batting at the ornaments…

This is Charlie’s first Christmas, so we’re enjoying his reaction to all of the new dangly decorations in the house.

Hope you enjoyed seeing a peek in and out of my home.

Wow!, your home looks absolutely beautiful! Do you have to do anything special to secure your decorations to prevent your cat from knocking them over or climbing up into your tree?

  8. Everything is so festive. Really beautiful. I love seeing everyone's special ornaments. I have some of my kids too. Our young son passed away from brain cancer and we always decorate front and center with his picture and some special ornaments and some special things he made in school. My daughter's picture is right next to his and her handmade ornaments are there too. I will always love them more then my Pottery Barn ornaments. I love Christmas and the magic it brings. Your house and decorations are simply stunning.

    Enjoy the season,
    Cathy
